Cloud agent platforms
Bonito vs Gemini Enterprise + Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (with Apigee)
Google's agent stack vs. agents and routing across every cloud
Vertex AI was renamed Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (April 2026); Agent Engine is now Agent Runtime
Gemini Enterprise is Google's per-seat employee app with no-code agents and enterprise search, and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (formerly Vertex AI) is the developer stack: ADK, Agent Runtime, Memory Bank, Agent Gateway and Model Garden. Apigee can be configured as an LLM proxy with token quotas and semantic caching. Bonito gives you managed routing and failover across Vertex, Bedrock, Azure and the direct providers without building that proxy.
Google Gemini Enterprise pricing
Gemini Enterprise: per seat per month by edition, see Google. Agent Platform: pay per use (Agent Compute $0.085/vCPU-hr), model tokens billed separately.
Model costs
Google resells Model Garden models, Claude included, through Cloud Billing. ADK with LiteLLM uses your own provider keys in code.
What Google Gemini Enterprise does well
- A full governed agent stack: Agent Studio, open-source ADK, Agent Runtime, Memory Bank, Registry, Identity and Evaluation
- No-code agents with schedules in Gemini Enterprise
- ADK agents declared in YAML and shipped with adk deploy
- Strong compliance, with FedRAMP High for Model Garden inference
- Agent Gateway governs MCP, A2A and REST traffic with Model Armor; Apigee adds token quotas and semantic caching
Where Bonito goes further
- A managed OpenAI-compatible gateway across eight providers; reaching OpenAI, Bedrock or Azure from Google means ADK code or an Apigee proxy you build
- Automatic failover to an equivalent model on another provider, not circuit-breaker policy you write
- Cost routing to cheaper models, managed rather than DIY
- Dollar budgets per agent and cost per request, agent, team and provider
- A built-in approval queue for any agent tool call, not only scheduled actions that involve other people
- Your own provider accounts with 0% markup, instead of Model Garden resale
Where Google Gemini Enterprise is ahead of Bonito
- Compliance, including FedRAMP High
- Distribution to employees through the Gemini Enterprise app and Google Workspace
- Semantic caching through Apigee; Bonito has none
- Enterprise search over company data
